Picking a player app for your Smart TV in 2026

Samsung Tizen and LG webOS both carry several IPTV players. They differ more than their screenshots suggest.
What to look for
- Xtream Codes support. Without it you lose VOD and series.
- EPG handling. Some players download the full guide once; others re-fetch constantly and feel sluggish.
- Favourites and hiding. A long channel list is unusable without the ability to hide groups you never watch.
- Activation model. Several TV players charge a small one-off fee to the app developer. That is separate from your subscription with us.
A reasonable default
If you want something that works without fuss, pick a player that supports the Xtream Codes API, set your favourites on the first evening, and enable the guide. That configuration tends to survive TV firmware updates better than anything more elaborate.
